BharatGPT Takes Center Stage: Reliance Jio and IIT Bombay Join Forces for Groundbreaking AI Advancements

Reliance Jio, a leading figure in the telecommunications and streaming sector, is broadening its footprint in artificial intelligence. Teaming up with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Jio is gearing up to unveil its latest endeavors.Jio is gearing up to launch its new AI project, aptly named BharatGPT.

Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio, disclosed the announcement during IIT Bombay’s annual Techfest. As India’s largest telecom service provider, Jio intends to harness the capabilities of generative pretrained transformers and extensive language models.

This project aims to create AI solutions for crucial business sectors like telecom and retail. Ambani stressed Jio’s commitment to incorporating AI across all aspects of their organization, rather than limiting it to a standalone vertical.

We are working very hard to launch AI not only as a vertical inside our organization, but horizontally across all our sectors,” Akash Ambani said.

BharatGPT and Jio’s AI advancements intend to bring forth new offerings in media, commerce, communications, and devices. The project includes collaborating with a consortium of other IITs, alongside IIT Bombay.

At this time, the specific release date for BharatGPT remains undisclosed. However, there is anticipation that Jio will reveal the release date in the first few months of 2024. Projected as an artificial intelligence system, BharatGPT is expected to be designed for various applications.
